Hi folks,
I'm considering setting up an information site for motorcyclists with suggestions/reviews of good leisure riding roads in Northumberland (in theory in the whole of the UK, but I dont ride everywhere...)
It'd be a site with a list of roads, complete with maps and photos (where possible), giving you a description and a bit of info (petrol stops, road surface, etc). Mainly intended to be a resource for people to use to decide where to blast off to on a Sunday.
Anyway what I thought I'd ask you guys, before bothering to do anything, is:
1) Is there already such a site
2) Any suggestions on particular features or useful things?
3) Comments in general?
I guess it would be called WhereToRide, Bike Playgrounds, GoodBikingRoads, or Accident Blackspots or something.
When I first passed my test I desperately wanted to find out the names & locations of good roads but had a hard time finding any, and still do... I hate finding a random road in the A-Z and riding there, only to discover the reality doesnt match the map Hence the idea for this site. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

Yeah that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. Not that many roads on that site mind, only eight listed for the whole of the north east.
I think the slant on that site is that you can use it to find roads in whatever country you are going to, whereas I'd be making one mainly just about my part of England. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |
