I just kind of fell into it. You could probably phone any brothel and ask if they had a job available as a receptionist, but its a very cliquey world - and seeing as how receptionists can often be in charge of a great deal of cash on a regular basis ... owners usually prefer to find their receptionists by referral or reputation, before taking on an unknown person. I guess I just got lucky getting into it the way I did.

I went thru a lot of domestic upheaval last summer, ended up in a refuge ... and wasn't reliable enough to keep doing it (a receptionist in tears all day and unstable emotionally is not a good thing) ... so I had to give it up as a job, but I still spend time up there in a sort of "support" capacity, helping out the boss when she needs it, etc., ... till life is back on a normal footing.

It must be really biarre, I mean you expect the type of girls that ebcome prostitutes to be moral-less or druggies trying to fund their habits, not normal everyday people, and that punters are all dirty old men but I'd imagine you get all types of people doing it.

They're not all druggies and with no morals.

Every single girl I have worked with is a perfectly nice girl, and many of them have been very supportive of me in times of my own personal crises. I consider many of them very close friends... more than any people I made friends with when I worked office jobs.

They all do that job for their own reasons, and who am I to question those reasons so long as they are doing it as legally as possible and in a decent and reasonable way.

The boss doesn't stand for druggies or piss artists amongst her girls, anyone with those kind of problems rarely lasts long ... its too much of a risk both legally and security-wise to have those kind of girls on board.

They are absolutely not allowed to do drugs on the premises - and if a punter offers them sniff or puff, they have to come out and tell the maid, and the punter will get kicked out (and not have his money returned). The most punters can do is a bit of amyl nitrate.

Morally, regardless of what people may think ... a good number of the girls get very offended when some (not many) punters (who think that when they pay they can say or do what they like to the girls) take liberties. For example, one punter gets his jollies by talking to the girls about shagging his own niece whilst they are "doing" him. I cannot think of a single girl who has seen him, who has not come out of the room traumatised - and they all refuse to see him any longer.

But not all punters are dirty old men. I would say perhaps less than 5% of all men who visit prostitutes might be considered "dirty old men" (as per the example above) ... and in general the girls have a much lower opinion of those type than of the absolutely normal blokes that you could walk past in the street and not even IMAGINE they visited working girls. I've seen more totally normal-looking guys walking thru the door than pervy old "dirty mac" type ones.

Most working girls are perfectly ordinary people. The ones who do it just to get another rock or the next can of Special Brew need more help than just a bit of cash, and are the sort of girls who give the rest of the industry a bad reputation.

So call them what you like: Prostitutes, working girls, whores, slappers, sluts, slags, whatever ... they've heard it all before, and there are worse girls with less morals and less concern about personal sexual health running around bars picking up guys, and not charging for it, and spreading STDs than most working girls. After all, a WG's job and reputation relies on her NOT having STDs.

And most will tell you that they are perfectly content doing the job they do, with no qualms whatsoever. Some hope to go on and eventually do other things, they go to college and have aspirations same as anyone else ... others are quite happy doing what they do and see no reason to change their job.

Its not bizarre, its actually VERY interesting. More interesting than working in a dead end 9-5 job, at some boring law office or in a hospital full of sick people, or self-obsessed media types - which are the sort of places I used to work. I doubt that once my life is back on track so that I CAN get back to work ... I will ever go back to working the normal 9-5 again. I enjoy the environment too much. You get to laugh more, be more yourself and enjoy your working day (even if it is rather long) than in any other job I have EVER had.

When people ask me what I do for a living, and when I tell them, I get a much better response than if I said "Oh, I work for an insurance company/advertising agency/lawyers".
