If you want to go slow and unreliably then get any of the two stokes, if you want to go very slow but reliably then go for the CBR.

If however you want to pass your test and get a bigger bike later than none of the above. Save your money and get an old 4 stroke CG125, SR125 or similar.

5. Cagiva Supercity

The best use of 30BHP in a user friendly package:

Honda Varadero 125?

fantastic bike! 5ft 4 of short arsed female managed to ride one for 23000km, I'm sure one would suit your purpose,

good build quality, cheap second hand, lots of accessories, reliable
will sit at 70mph with ease.

400km to a tank of petrol...

better than any other 4stroke 125,

Or even if your 9ft something! My mate Vin had one to learn on and it suited him just the same.

I would agree, go with a DT125 (either the R or the X) there a good 2t bike. Quick but a lot more reliable than the (race) 125's (the rs for example Laughing )

But restricted the DT's are a great leaner, to get used to. Then de-restrict it, and go and have some fun Laughing Cool

get urself an nsr, by far the best looking 125......in my opinion. But the facts are that it is reliable, quick, parts are available at a reasonable price etc.

Cagivas are the cheapest on insurace. The aprilia RS is 3x as much as the mito, and 4x as much as the planet to insure.

Go for the Mito - looks better than a 916 and is cheaper to insure than the rest. Parts are easy to get hold of, too. Just drop Rob at mitomondo a line.

slow does not just include top speed,

it includes acceleration, which it is very poor at, the hefty varadero 125 fully fuelled out pulled one of those weeners many a time Laughing

rs 125 all the way, ive hit 110mph on mine and it still had another 1krpm left to go. Its fun to ride because its fast and your shifting alot of gears but its not to fast like these 1 litre sports bikes where you stay in one gear and do 12423543256346mph everywhere..

i would tend to agree with gettin a CG, or something similar, you WILL crash the bike, and a nice RS has lots of nice fairing to damage. an old cg will not loose much money as its probably been crashed before, it will be more reliable than a 2t, and although it may not look the best, it will do you for all you need to do until you get your test.

Cagiva planet or supercity are good options. I bought a planet because it looks cool, has the same chassis, engine forks etc... as the mito. Has low insurance, still rides like a sportsbike and doesn't have fairings to bollocks up in a crash.

Planet for the win Twisted Evil

Dont waste money on a flash 125, buy a ratty old CG125 or similar.

You will slide the thing up the road, drop it in the carpark, fall off at junctions and bin it in the wet. Its not worth messing up a Mito or the like.

Save the cash, get through the "wobbly phase", learn, then pass your test and buy a real sportsbike if thats what you want.

I'm sorry but 125 sports bikes are really for teenagers with an image problem. They are not really good for learning on, as steering locks are poor and the sports riding position is not the easiest to get on with. When you fall of and smash up the fairing its damned expensive to fix.

Get the CG ride it out then pass your test and get a full size, full power sportsbike when youve learnt to ride properly.

I'm not being nasty Razz just trying to save you aggro.

I passed my test on a good old CG125, they are a good laugh! Arguing over which 125 is fastest is a bit daft as they are all slow bar a 125 GP bike lol.
