Every bikes good as each other.

But as mentioned, the GPZ is a brilliant choice for starters. Comfortable, takes to restriction well, nippy enough if they fall out. Thumbs Up

SV is a good bike to restrict to 33Bhp, it looks ok, fairly low insurance group, quite cheap, very forgiving handling and it retains a decent chunk of its torque when restricted. So if you find yourself going round a corner in too high a gear for its speed you can get away with it.

Just got 108Mph out of my one (restricted) on my personal private road Smile

For more pro's its not too heavy and it has a good group of followers (sv650.org)

The best 33 bhp bike is one which hopefully has the low weight of a machine which just produces that much power. It's probably better to get something a little larger though for when you derestrict it, legally or otherwise.

The 500s are an easy answer, as are things like the Honda Bros and Suzuki SV650. There are always trail/ enduro bikes to consider too.

My Zxr 250. Short of being a restricted 2 stoke, it had the most poke of the bikes i tried restricted because unrestricted it does 42bhp rear wheel, which is nearly 33 Rolling Eyes . It's feather light and i'd say can keep up with other bikes. 145kg dry Razz , which for a 4 stroke inline 4 is good!

Unrestricted, it has the pace of a 400 with the advantage of being smaller and lighter.

Have any of you ever known any bike to be checked that it is 33 bhp after a collision or speeding or something?
Would the insurance companies go to this much effort just to stop paying out?

Depends really...

If the accident happened at over 70mph then they might check, if you caused a fuck load of damage crashing at 135mph then you can bet your ass they will rip the bike appart to find no restrictors and blame the whole thing on that.

thing is though, in a small accident or one with you not at fault, they won't check. if its high speed enough to justify checking, there won't be much left of the bike, and probably very little left of you... Laughing
