18" Rear tyres

I've been plagued by poor grip on my fzr750 since day one. Sorted the front end with a Rennesport off my supermoto but its proving to be hard to find cheap sticky 18" rears. Most seem to be touring tyres and the one i tried last time is practically still new after 5000miles.

Some of the old 400s use 18" rears as do a lot of older bikes. I'm sure there must be some out there

the rear swingarm from a 1000EXUP bolts straight into an FZ750 Frame.

I've also seen the same mod done to an FJ1200. This gives you a 180/17 option.

Just a thought, one may bolt straight into yours.

Yamaha are quite good at keeping bits standard between different bikes so you might be able to upgrade there.

Best choice might be to use Bridgestone BT45 cross plies. Failing that BT014 radials.

Yeah i could use a 17" rear wheel from a later FZR but don't need the hassle just now with all my other projects taking priority.
A 180 section would be a bit much for an old FZR imo. It came with a 160, i later fitted a 170 which slowed turning down too much. Idealy i'd like a 160/70/18 but 160/60/18 would do. I've seen a few on ebay but don't know much about them.

Ive had Avon azaros in those sizes on my FZ750 and they worked really well, as well as ME33s which were also very good.

bt090s were always good for the 18" nc30 rear.

You can get BT014 and 010 in 150/60/ZR18, last time I checked they didn't make them as 18 inch 160's though.
