Hey, I had just filled my tank up to the brim and decided to go around an empty carpark a few times, i turned a corner quite fast and the bike just skidded from under me for about 3 metres then i hit the curb, I got up and saw that there was petrol sprayed oveer where i had skidded and a puddle where my bike was (Honda CG 05 model), I moved my bike and switched the fuel off 2 see that the right handle, front break handle and right peg were grinded down a bit. I was then unable to start the engine and saw that a small, thin pipe was hanging down which smelt of petrol. I wheeled it home (shit scared 2 try and start the engine again.........*click BOOM*) and showed my dad who says that cos i filled the engine up to much the fuel line could have ruptured or something and that the pipe could be a breather. Tried lookin for a connection for the pipe but no look, it doesnt luck severed or anything and there are metal rings above it keeping it in place. Please help! Gonna ring honda 2morro cos its still under warrantee. See photos for details......

Probably an over flow pipe, seems too long to be a fuel pipe. A lot of bikes over flow fuel when put on their sides so that would explain the fuel. Does fuel still spill out when you turn the fuel tap on?

turn the fuel cap on? When I turn the lever for the fuel 2 go into the engine no fuel comes out. When i was done filling the tank i took out the hose and a bit of fuel spilt over and ran down the tank, but that was about 15 miles before it fell

overflow pipe, drains the carb float bowl when it goes over on its side.

oooooh so the fuel is meant to come out? I will give Honda a ring tomorrow anyway just incase, im a bit scared and ive lost some confidence Sad might have to put off the test for a while. Thanks lads for the help, any more info would be greatly appreciated (come on you CG owners! Get those Haynes manuals out) Thumbs Up

EDIT: Jus googled (motobike fuel overfill) and found some pretty interesting links with info on.

"The breather pipe on this CB500S leaks petrol if the tank is filled, so I have to short-fill the tank to avoid this. I'm thinking of cutting out the internal pipe from the tank to see if it can be changed and then welded back into place - does anyone have any experience of a similar problem or know of a tank repair company?"

"....and don't overfill. Overfilling will cause oil to blow out the breather vent hose."

I think with the fuel expanding with the heat of the engine, the petrol leaked out when i leant so much cos i did have the engine on for ages, STILL gonna give honda a ring 2morro 2 make sure then syphon out some fuel Razz yey, my confidence isnt totally ruined

There's 3 tubes there... It could be a breather for the battery too
