My nsr has been standing for about 3 months. It was serviced just before that(spark plugs cleaned etc.). I looked to start it today and the starter motor is ticking for two or three revs and then it just sounds like fuel is running into it(i dont know too much about bikes). Fuel line is on ,everything appears to be in order. Can i please have advice as someone is coming to buy it on sat. Thanks a million

Probably the carbs gummed up as well as the battery. If left too long the fuel evaporates from the carb(s) and leaves a sticky gunge in the bottom of the chamber and in the jets. Also old fuel is something that high compression engines don't like, although 3 months isn't that old.
As Sunbear said, charge the battery using a very low power charger, not one for a car as that will fry the battery.
If it fires up, get it to a garage and fill up with fresh fuel, if not then you'll need some carb cleaner and half a day to do the job.

Half a day to service an NSR carb is a bit over the top, you could probablty do it in an hour or so, I've taken mine out so many bloody times I managed to change the jets in mine yesterday in 25 mins start to finish Very Happy

Any bike dealer should have a charger and carb cleaner for you to buy. Otimate III is the charger of choice, about £35, although HG do an Oxford one for £22.

Cleaning the carb is easy. Take it off the engine mount and give it a good spray with carb cleaner. I've heard you can also use brake cleaner as it is a fast drying solvent that leaves no traces.

My NSR did the same thing when it was standing for a while. After cleaning the carb it fired up straight away.

Change the fuel. That's the first thing I would try. I spent ages with that same problem after I left mine sitting for a month. Changing the fuel sorted it.
