I mate of mine's dad lives in one of these babies in mytchett.
It seems an exceedingly good way of living, there is never any trouble down there, noeone goes there who doesn't live there and any that try are promptly told to piss off by the residents, there have hardly ever been incedents of robbery or burglary, and it's only 50 grand to buy one outright.
It has everything that you would expect to find in a normal house, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, living room. Yeah it's small but not what I'd call cramped, It's nice and cosy and I've got my sights on one.

Definately not a good place for more than 2 people to live though.

Opinions, and no tits with the "trailer trash" jokes please Laughing

houses go up in value, mobile homes dont
id quite like a mobile home somewhere nice but I wd pay £5000 max. I know u can get nicer ones for £50000, but my house was £56000 2 years ago and its worth about £70000 now. Its got central heating and 3 bedrooms and 2 livingrooms, a garden and a back alley to keep my bikes. ok my house is pretty scruffy and in a bad area but you cant have everything

a cheap static caravan in some woods does appeal tho. the only way i would have one on a caravan site which charged ground rent would be if i let it out half the year so it paid for itself

Have seen the details for a few of these when looking around for houses, they're cheap for a house but expensive for a glorified shed. Razz

Cramped?
"BEDROOM ONE 9'8 x 5'10
Double bedroom. Built in wardrobe. View to rear garden.

BEDROOM TWO 6'5 x 5'7
Single bedroom. Built in wardrobe. View to side patio."

They seem a vaguelly interesting idea but are tiny inside and there'd always be trailer park jokes which might get a bit annoying after a few years. Laughing

Reckon I'd be wanting to live in a house boat rather than a mobile home.

Plus there's the fact that everyone else on the road will hate your guts.

The only real advantage I can see is that you can put a bike in the boot. Noel Gallagher has a Smart Car in his Winnebago. Laughing

I would love a motorhome, or canal boat as an addition to my house.

I would only ever live in one if was was on my own though. It's a bit difficult to have any sort of stability for a family living that way, but if you're on your tod, then stuff it, you can live how you like!

Lived on a narrowboat for a while, 'tis OK. Takes a little getting used to though and certainly isn't cheap. My partners parents live in a static caravan, they they sold their house and bought two. First one was bought as a holiday home, on a 10 berth park on the side of a mountain in Wales. Gorgeous pitch. After using that for a summer or two they decided to sell the house and buy another van in a park in Worcestershire and move between the two as they like. I'd certainly consider living in one myself, the main issue to me is the longterm financial impact. As someone has already pointed out, bricks and mortar tend to appreciate, a caravan is on a rented pitch (usually) and rotting around you.
