[19:08] <BCF> shager: wot do u have to do to do it?
[19:09] <Wave2k> you cant rebore yourself
[19:09] <ggg_> if you have to ask, you aren't skilled enough to do
[19:09] <BCF> Phil_G: complete engine rebuild - new piston/s and rings, possibly liners etc etc - why you ask?

The barrels aka the "holes where the pistons go" are originally bored to a size. Rebore is skimming an extra mm or so, fitting bigger piston(s) and result = increased CC (so if you had a 100cc you can go to 120cc for instance). Sometimes you have to rebore and sometimes people do it for a speed increase..

Talking of rebores a mate has just paid nearly £500 on a set of pistons and a rebore for his 84' gsxr 750... ouch..

Look at the pics there. Reboring is just making those holes bigger Smile

Not quite right. A rebore would normally be making the hole .25-.5mm so as to fit a slightly bigger piston due to wear. A big-bore would be done to increase CC.

Got a set of new MTC1277cc pistons waiting to go into one of my Bandit 1200 lumps but need a Wiseco block for them really. Makes that look cheap. Whats CC's your mates going up to?
