Air shows are dangerous.

Safer on your bike than at an air show.

Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that plane is a MiG-29 Fulcrum, and the move the pilot's trying to pull off is called the Cobra manoeuvre, famous with those planes because they don't stall when they do it. Looks like this one did stall though, and he lost too much altitude before he could power up again to get out of the situation.

Sorry to be a pain but you are wrong, seemed like he was attempting the ‘float like a stone’ manoeuvre.

It was either a MiG 29 Fulcrum or a Sukhoi SU27 Flanker, I don't recall.

I was an aircraft engineer in the RAF when it happened, and we were shown the vid as a stark reminder of what can go wrong. Quite a few people were killed, and if I remember correctly, the pilot didn't make it either.

It was pilot error, incorrect airspeed and altitude meant that the aircraft was on the point of stalling, and didn't have enough height to regain speed.

A hefty price to pay for having the throttle a couple of degrees too far back. Thumbs Up

i reckon mig 29 - and those are the reasons that airshows (in the uk anyway) usually have the rules that "NO PLANE IS ALLOWED WITHIN A CERTAIN DISTANCE OF THE CROWD OR FLY OVER THEM" apart from the red arrows when arriving or leaving but this may have changed too!!! Very Happy
