Hi,

Just wandering, I want to polish the top yoke on my RS125, now how do I go about removing this?! I had a quick look this morning on the way to work, I take it there's 2 pinch bolts either side of the fork, then 2 allen key bolts to remove the bars. Now, the central part, I take it that just needs a large socket to remove?

If I do remove this middle part, what part's are inside, and what can I loose from taking it out (bearings etc?)

Also, can I remove the top yoke, whilst not jacking the front up, but not riding, just leaving it until I can fit it again?

Thanks in advance! Sorry if it seems like a stupid question

Not sure about this but I have read about doing it and I THINK I you dont need to take the 2 big bolts out on either side of it,

Dosnt look right to me but I was reading on a forum about this guy who done this and ended up taking all the suspension components out and was a real bugger to get back in..

You sure you need to take it off? Maybe some metal polish will do? or are you looking to use proper polishing tools to do this? Or is it painted and you want it to be a normal metal colour so you can wet 'n' dry it?

Thanks for your response, It's currently really scratched painted, so want to get it all shiny and bare metal Smile. Just had a quick look, the pinch bolts wouldn't effect the suspension, they clamp around it, my main worry is:

What's hidden in that middle bolt, how I take it off, and if it's bearings etc - what i have to be careful of, and also, if i take this yoke off to polish it, and leave the bike un supported - maybe on a rear paddock stand, will it be able to take the weight, or will the bottom yoke just fall off?!
