Just a thought,

We've now had snow/ice in all these months.

Last year, the season started for me on 28th February (ie left car at home) and it didn't snow or have a frost since.

I can be sure of the date as its my mum's birthday.

I didn't notice it start last year as I only got my bike in July...

But this weather takes the piss, although starting to get nicer now.

I haven't stopped riding since July.

warm clothes make bikes ok in most weather conditions even if its not quite as fun

i dont mind snow or ice, what i really hate is when the road has been salted and gritted so much that there is a slippery sandy film on the road. it was like this at xmas near me

the rest of the year has been ok

Yeahh i've been out, but take today for example nice ish, well sunshine, bit of water on road, it gets to 8pm, it suddenly feels bad, ie frost time, on the country roads i'm on this is worrying.

A nice ride turns to static turns and slow progress.

Well I've been commuting to work on the bike all winter, firstly on the 636, and then the KLE.

I have to say, given the choice for a commuter, the 636 would win. Lighter clutch, better protection (especially with keeping water off your feet) and stickier tyres, and besides, I got the time it takes to get there down from 15 minutes to 5 minutes on the ninja. Wink

A set of thermals, textile trousers, two jackets, waterproofs and heated grips made it almost bearable. The KLE is corroded to shit now though.
