amaena pop-ups

they keep popping up everyday, saying that i'm under threat by a different virus/worm/whatever everyday. then another one pops up saying to download one of "these" and gives me a list of "anti virus" software.
Is this a gimmick, to make you download the supposed antivirus stuff, which is really a virus?
and how can i stop the popups?

I have ad-aware se, and norton.

recently done a full scan on both, which didn't bring much up. Adaware se got rid of some stuff, but 5 mins later when i rescanned, (after some amaena pop-ups had occured) tracking cookies had been left.

Someone sort me out please.
