How do you fit a new chain
Fit a split chain and rivet it in place
50%
 50%  [ 5 ]
remove swinging arm so chain can be fitted without riveting
30%
 30%  [ 3 ]
Take it to a garage and get somebody else to fit it

Like with most jobs on a bike it is much easier if you invest in a decent hydraulic bench then you can get the bike up to a decent working height so there is no more grovelling on the floor!
I bought one a few years ago and the difference it makes is unbelivable.
All those maintainance jobs that were once a pain are now a pleasure

To be a cheapskate i got it riveted properly at a bike shop for £3 and slipped the swingarm out of the frame.

I'd use one on a small bike withbout worrying. When you start getting up to 50-60bhp going through it, I would be a lot less confident.

This is just due to my personal experience of having had two split links fail at speed on a GPZ500s.
