Hi to all the gang it's been a long time since i last visited this site you probably remember that I lost my mate on a bike and gave up my bike soon after.
Well I have been thinking you can't wrap yourself up with cotton wool all your life and your hear to enjoy life so you may as well do it the way you want to
Alot has changed since then, I have had a boy who is now 6 months old and a whole lot of other things. Now I need to decide on what bike to get so if anyone would like to help me out I have 5 bikes to choose from
The list looks like this
2005 GSX-R 1000
2005 CBR 1000RR
2005 ZX-10R
2005 R1
2006 Daytona 675
I had a 636 2004 model before and found that to be great on the streets but a bit wheezy on the track. The suspension was ace on the track but ass numbing on the road
I like the extra room on the litre class bikes and the softer seat mainly on the GSX-R 1000......and the extra 60odd horsepower wouldn't go astray Wink

Welcome back, it's good that you have decided to come back to bikes, and have such a good taste in bikes. Laughing

Get the R1 or the 675 or GSXR Smile

Personally, I like 600cc bikes on track - and even my race 600cc race bikes I suspect had less power and midrange than your 636 Smile.
A well ridden 600 can easily stay up there with the 1000cc bikes on track; there's little different in laptimes and in some cases I've seen 600s beat 1000s in racing, even on tracks that aren't too short.

1000cc bikes, for me, I find mean that I don't tend to push /quite/ so much because I know the bike may well bite back and kick me off.

H'anyway, from what I've heard, the CBR-RR should be quite an 'easy' ride, but maybe not so exciting for going fast, while the ZX10R should make you feel you're going bloody fast when you are; with the other two inbetween.

it's great to be back guys and I can't wait to get on a rocket and rip it through some apex's on my local track but it needs to be comfy for me to ride it for more than an hour or two, I put on a bit of beef too so I need to lose the extra baggage so I can climb over the bike without losing the fuel cap in my guts!
I see what yuour saying there G about being able to wind the throttle open smoothly till you hit the throttle stop when exiting corners and still keep up with or beat litre class bikes out of corners without having to worry (worry less!) about high siding or being slapped but for me I find I can't feel comfortable coming into a corner with the revs up around 10,000-12,000rpm and lean it over, I feel like the back end will lock up if I am a bit hastie with letting the clutch out while putting it on it's ear, but I have to admitt, when you get the corner entry speed right and you blast out of a corner with max throttle and max revs while hanging onto the last inch of the track edge and you feel the bike wiggle and squirm for stability, there is not much else out there that can light up the senses like a 15,000 rpm supersport
But on the other hand a litre class can make even me look semi decent on a track! given the extra torque and afterburner like top end speed down the straights Twisted Evil
