Okay, this is probably a stupid question...

On this forum I've seen loads of people refer to what I'VE thought to be motorbikes, as scooters!!!

Whats the difference between motorbikes, scooters and mopeds?

Motorbike: Geared machine not restricted to 30mph with an engine mounted to a frame, which you straddle.

Scooter:Automatic machine (Usually) not restricted to 30mph with a swingarm mounted engine

Moped: A Motorbike or Scooter that is restricted to 30mph, and has an engine size of 50cc.

If a Moped is derestricted, it becomes either a Scooter or a Motorbike, depending on the mounting of the engine.
