Hi.

Does anybody here commute to work on their bike?

I shall be doing it when the weather brightens up.

I was wondering if anybody has any reccomendations for clothing which can be worn over trousers without creasing them too much.

I dont fancy wearing jeans and then going into the toilets to get changed for work.

Thanks

Ash

Hi

I do most of the time. Just wear textiles over the top of my work clothes. If you need a jacket at work then leave it there.

All the best

Ridden every day all through the winter to work and back except on a very icey morning although not far to go like many of you guys over there.
I wear my work clothes and wear a pair of waterproofs over my work trousers, dont look very sexy but dont arf keep the wind and cold out and doesnt involve any changing once I get to work.

Yep, have done every day for the past 10 years. I use good old Lidl's bike jacket and padded overtrousers. Got the large size so they fit over my work clothes without making them look messy. Works a treat Thumbs Up

I normally just throw a pair of textiles over my work clothes, unless I want a bit of a blast on the way in, in which case I put leathers on and roll my work clothes up and use my tank bag.

I do but my boss has made an exception to the uniform rule for me and I can wear black jeans instead of black trousers. Thumbs Up (It does help that he's a biker too and often comes to work on his bike) Mr. Green

I think I will make do with jeans to put over the trousers for now.

Cant afford textiles this month.

Thanks for all the replies!

Since January I've worn textiles over the top and left a pair of shoes at work. Come summer, I'll probably get some leathers 'cause the trousers are way too warm when the sun comes out.

I commute everyday and have to wear a suit, one option is just to leave the suit at work and quickly whip it on there, but I can't be arsed with that and just put a pair of waterproofs over my work trousers and leave my suit jacket at work.

I wouldn't recommend wearing your work shoes on the bike though, obvious safety issues and if they get wet loads of white stains come out when they dry. Looks like you've had a tug over your shoes!

Always leave my work shoes at work, wear nothing else but my boots when riding, see so many young lads in just a pair of trainers with legs exposed Sad

I wear smart casual wear around the office, so doesn't really matter. I'm not sure if anyone's noticed my Sidis yet - they're black rains so look like weird shoes when my jeans are over the top. Maybe I should start wearing my Doohan SMXs. Mind you, the bike parked directly outside the office might be a giveaway.

Definately better than getting the train in as well - even the Blade's cheaper on a weekly basis to come the 20 odd miles.

I use textile stuff with full padding. Its good as it has a removable lining as well. I was using that till i had an off a few weeks back. Trousers fit under it fine though.

Currently using leather lowers, i just change into my trousers when i get to work (Leave them at work, just take them home at the end of the week in a rucksack).

I thought having to change every day would be a real pain, but really, its no more hassle than taking off a well fittied textile suit.

As for toliets, sod that, i'll just go in any room where theres no-one in it. I've got my cacks on, nowt to hide Laughing

Leave shoes, tie and jacket at work. Often wear Hein Gericke jeans (black) so I don't have to get changed (but then I don't interact with customers/suppliers).

I use the bike two or three times a week to get to work and I have a Dianese textile jacket and Frank Thomas textile trousers. The jacket is big enough to wear a jumper underneath and I wear jogging bottoms under my trousers and carry my work clothes in a rucksack.

This is the reason I don't ride in every day - I cant be bothered with the hassle putting the kit on and then taking it off twice a day for a 20 minute journey Embarassed !!

The problem is, the one day that I won't bother wearing all the kit will be the one day where i chuck the bike down the road and skid along on my arse at 80mph!!

I used to love nipping to tescos in my horrible blue shirt thing, polyester trousers and steel toecap work boots.

Not.

Sadly it was one of those places where even storing your helmet for you seemed like the most arduous chore ever, and it nearly got nicked/broke once or twice. Like fuck was i going to be able to hide big expensive leather jacket, boots etc.

I mean i wore gloves, cos they'd fit in the lid.

Did enjoy getting told about all the complaints rung in though Laughing

'I just saw a guy on a bike in a tesco shirt do a big wheeley up fairlands way. I hope you are going to do something about it rar rar rar'

Luckily i was mates with everyone in reception.

Oh and for the record, i literally lived about a mile away, down two straight duallies. So shh.

If anyone wants any tesco shirts to wear over the top of their leathers when being a cunt, im happy to send some. They are in fat git size anyway so should be lose on all you 'normal' sized people even with leathers.

I commute to work every day by bike and have done since december. It's not too much of a hassle, I work in an office so its' trousers, shirt n tie.

Winter kit:
Armoured waterproofs from M&Ps (£40) keeps the rain and wind out and good built in knee armour and 'bum' padding.

Frank thomas aqua jacket (Another M&P bargain at £50 in the winter sale)

Spring Kit:
Recently started ditching the armoured waterproofs for some i bought at aldi's couple of weeks ago. Nice and lightweight but no protection.

It's warm enough for a leather jacket (Alpinestars JD brown, casual look) which I can wear to the pub at lunchtime without looking like a smelly biker Smile Put a jumper on underneath sometimes when it's cold.

Oh, pair of boots from hein gerike and a backpack for putting my shoes in.

I've commuted to work on my bike every day for nearly 3 years to various jobs where I had to dress smart, I went for textile armoured trousers, bike boots and a leather jacket, and just left some shoes under my desk.

I commute to an office job.

I check the teletext/web for the weather and wear clothing appropriate for the conditions.

I have somewhere to change, I have a pair of shoes at work and I tend to bring my work trousers to work on Monday and change and leave them everynight.

I thus just wear my shirt under my gear.

One thing to note, don't wear your tie, its an accident waiting to happen in my opinion.

---

I am also very fortunate to have secure garaged parking for my bike whilst at work.
