Hey,

I'm currently rebuilding my Kawasaki GPZ 400 R.
Due to neglect the headlights have seen better days and all the silver on the reflectors have started peeled off.

Does anyone know of any companys that re-silver the reflectors?

Cheers,
Shaun

I'm sure it is possible, but it'd probably cost you somewhat more than getting a replacement from a breaker. Sorry for not answering the question, a visit to your friendly local bike mechanic (see Yellow Pages) would probably yield better results.

Never heard of it being done. The relector is not like a lampshade, it's a precise mirror. It works by reflecting the light at the right angle, just being shiney is not enough.

You could use silver paint to get you through an MOT if you're desperate.

Hi

I have heard of it being done, but not sure who by or the cost.

The shape of the headlight reflector should not be affected by it so you will probably just need to pull the headlight to pieces to get it done.

Probably worth checking through the classified adds in various classic car and bike magazines.

From chatting to someone who knows about platting there is a surface treatment that they use which then allows just about anything to be chrome plated (including plastics I think).

Bit of a Google finds this:-

Headlamps and spotlamp reflectors 're-silvered'.

All the best

Thats brilliant. Thanks for your help.

I've looked for some new ones and there 60 quid each for the orignal hella headlights i need. Having two would put a dent in me wallet that i couldn't afford.

Hopefully having them re-silvered will save me a packet.

Cheers everyone for your help. Much appreciated Thumbs Up

Shaun
