Hiya,
as you may (or may not) recall, I recently got an SV650.
I now have to get rid of the Bandit.
There are a few minor issues with it.
The sump nut has lost it thread.
The choke needs adjusting.
The chain is getting rusty and could probably do with replacing.
Job's 2 and 3 I can easily do myself, but number one is being a pain.
What it boils down to is getting the exhaust manifolds off, but a few of the nuts have rounded and ai cant get them off. I have a replacement sump and a new gasket. It's just fitting the damn thing.
It's a 1997 P reg import. If I was to sell it as running but advise that the sump needs to be replaced, what sort of price do you think I could get for it? It's got around 29,000Kms on the clock.
I'm really getting fed up of trying something, then it not working and having to start again!
Dont suppose anyone wants to take it off my hands do you, for a price? ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

To get the studs off you might need a blowtorch, something like that..
I've been told PLUSGAS is very good for getting at exhaust studs, better than wd40 by a long way as a penetrant.. you can allways do the 2nut trick if theres enough stud left too maybe?
Failing that get somebody with some weding gear, weld an old sockket/spanner on to get some real leverage ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

I take it that it's the original cheese allen bolts ... get yourself a torx bit slightly larger than the allen bit and whack it in (with a hammer) ... that should allow you to get them out and replace them.
I've had a 1200 since they came out in case you think I'm talking crap ... been there done that
All the best ... Barry |
