My dads giving me his zzr soon so i have another bike but i have been doing some insurance qutoes and they seem to be a joke.

My zx6r when i was 17 was 1300tpo which was a fair bit but i was young on a fast bike and had to declare an accident.

I only want to insure the zzr for about 3 months but ebikes pay as you go is a ridiclious amount and if i get a 12 month policy and cancel i will get screwed over like i have done twice in the past.

I am getting quotes of about 800 tpo for a 19 year old which seems a bit steep.

I was thinking if i didn't get insured nothing really would happen unless i had an accident. The police will do fuck all, maybe give me a few points. It seems tempting to not get any but im not like that and it would play with my mind. Confused

I have worked out since my scooter (16-18) i have paid just over £3,000 on insurance which is a travesty. Well i only had to pay my car insurance but still its such a cunt. Middle Finger

Everyone has to pay insurance. We all hate it, but we do it.

I don't want to sound like a git but if you did ride around with no insurance then I'd be glad if the police found you out. Being involved in an accident with someone who is uninsured is no fun.

If you can't afford the insurance then don't ride the bike.

did you see that dumb c*nt in a news paper today? (red top maybe the mirror) has 28 points on his license and still wasn't banned , but this isn't the most theres this other guy in Cornwall who has 36 points they can't be banned cus if the DVLA ban him he can't work = no food for his family.

And nobody will insure either of them.

but its annoying as hell yes and generally a legalised type of theft (unlike bike consumables like tyres) which you get no real joy or benefit from, but we all still have to pay for it.

I would never actually do it just having a rant. i have quite a guilty conscience and when my 400 didnt have the restrictors in i always used to crap myself incase i got caught but passed through it.

I can afford it i just dont see the point in it being so expensive, i never really thought about it until now. Seems like such a waste of money and the concequences of not being insured are so low.

6 points and a fine isn't it? And even higher insurance costs after that?

Insurance is one of those things that annoys you when you don't need it but when you have an accident or need to claim you're f'ing glad you've got it.

I remember something on tv ages ago about a 17 year old that drove around in a car with no insurance. He had 15 points on his non existent licence and always got caught. He kept getting small fines and points.

He eventually hit and killed someone, went to prison for i think it was 3 months got a fine of £100 (because he couldn't afford anything else) he even paid it in small chunks.

He was caught again 6 weeks later driving again.

yeah but the insurance companies always try worm out of it and more often than not get away with it (not specifically vehicle insurance but shop insurance of a friend who claimed their shop was not covered when it was burnt down , because the fire wasn't the right kind of fire)
