Hiya

The bike i bought came fitted with an accessory 12v point and a set of heated handlebar grips which were both wired directly to the battery.

The obvious downside to this being that they are both live 24/7 and I risk a flat battery should I forget to turn something off, or a fire starting when Im not there to extinguish it.

I am looking into installing a relay system to provide an ignition switched live for these two items as, to my mind, its a much better way of doing things. The heated grips are currently fitted with a 5a fuse, and the accessory socket wont run anything much more than a road angel or similar device, so I dont think that a huge drain will be made on the system.

The power feed to trigger the relay I thought could come off my igniton fuse in the fuse box and that doesn't place any real demand on the wire so I dont think ti would overload anything.

I anticipate that it would be laid out in the following fashion and I would greatly appreciate any feedback on the matter. Also, if ive made a stupid mistake somewhere, then someone please give me a kick up the arse and point it out to me!

Thanks

Phil
