G'day guys.

Im having problems connecting my MP3 stick into my F Drive.

It's literally a case of sticking it in and pulling it out until i see the connection is made. I have to do this maybe 30 times- why does it not register every time???

Could it be to do with firewalls etc....

Ta.

i wouldnt imagine your firewall would affect this but PCs are mysterious beasts.

i assume its a USB mp3 player? are you connecting it direct to a USB port on the PC or into a USB hub of some sort?

Why F: ??

Windows has very funny ideas about allocating drive letters.

Set your spare hard drives, network drives and optical drives higher up the alphabet.

Then let your pen drive connect as D:

Should help. Smile

Then try it in another PC to see whether it is the MP3 player

Can't believe no one has asked whether it's USB1.1 or USB2.0 yet, or what O/S he's running?

If you're running Win98, USB is like that, it's shit and unreliable on 98.

If it's a 2.0 unit and you're running on 1.1 on your computer, then again, it's not that reliable.

If it's 2.0 running on 2.0 then check your USB ports for fluff/damage, the plastic pins inside the ports can snap off and cause all sorts of trouble.

My MP3 player doesn't work properly through my usb hub, however it works perfectly when I connect it to the ones on the back of my PC, Strange, but its worth a try.

glad its sorted mate.

check if your USB hub is host powered or not cos it sounds like there wasnt enough power to run the MP3 player through it as well.
