I was going down the a50 fairly quickly, started leaning over for the corner, mid corner the bike started sliding and wobbling, then lowsided.

I slid for a good few hundred meters and looked up to see my bike still sliding about 400m aaway from me. After i stopped i jumped up and started running to the bike, at which point Ash T had caught up and rode to my bike which was still sliding when he got to it.

I got a slight bruise on my hip and a possible broken small finger. Fucking lucky considernig the speed i was going.

I came off part way through the bend at the very back of the picture.

Holy Moly. That bike looks shagged mate.

Do you know what caused the slide?

Glad you're ok.

Rick.

Unlucky Dom like I said maybe look for the cheap fix like a digital speedo for around the £20 mark and keep scouring eBay.

Hope you get well soon fella. Karma

Hi

Ouch. Any idea what caused the wobble?

To be honest there is a hell of a lot damaged there. Footrest hanger, footrest, frame, throttle cables, front master cylinder, front wheel, headlights, clocks, etc.

All the best

Keith

Radiator, rear subframe, bent exhaust etc. the list goes on.

No idea what caused the wobble at all, the copper was a sly one though. Talking to me like a mate cause hes got a bike, but kept throwing in sly ones like "i'm a biker myself, how fast were you really going?" And asking other things which may lead to me slipping up.

Don't know quite what to do yet, any ideas?

*edit*
Yep keith, thats been missing for about a month now. Smile lol

Hi

To be honest there is so much damaged that it would be better long term to break it an buy another.

While you could certainly bodge it up for not massive amounts compared to a new bike, it would be a bodge and would not be worth much at all.

All the best

Keith

On the contrary - probably saved his life. Not like the usual rider-mangling furniture you find at the side of most roads. Or the cheese-wire crash barriers on our motorways.

Glad you're OK _Dom. That was a lucky one! Smile

I would say you are damm lucky to have got away without serious injury.

Be careful out there guys! The roads are still very slippery out there. I go down the A49 from warrington to worcester on most weekends when I am off work. There were very few bikes on the road in dec, jan and feb, but I could have counted about 40 or more today. Some of them were pushing hard in very slippery conditions ( just after a snow shower had passed by)! Okay, some of them may be more skilled and confident than I am, but on the whole, I still think it is a pointless risk. There is a time and place for everything, and days like today are not for pushing bikes to the limit.

Ps: this rant is not in anyway directed at Dom_

I know that strech of road, I used to use it to go to & from my caravan. Its a bloody fast road and to be honest I was glad when we found another route. Everyone always seems to be in such a bloody rush on there. Theres a few spots where water runs across the road round there, could you have hit a bit of black ice??
Feel for you with the broken little finger, done that twice, its painfull. All you can do is strap it upto the next finger but you tend to catch it a lot....takes a while to heal up. mines still buggered, it bends the wrong way now.

Very lucky for not getting seriously injured. Are the police following anything up with you? Dangerours driving or something, or are they being nice?
Hope they don't check for restrictors!
