WHITE COLLECTS ROOKIE OF THE WEEKEND AWARD

Twickenham racer Jon White had another successful weekend in the latest round of the BMCRC Clubman Mini-twin championship at the Lydden circuit in Kent.

After winning his first trophy on his debut at Snetterton two weeks ago, he was hoping for more, and achieved it.
Finishing 7th overall on his first of four races Jon scooped another first place rookie trophy finishing several places ahead of the next rookie. Jon made an excellent start to the weekend, and it didn’t go unmissed

Ex-endurance champion and current Forza and Open 1300 champion, Jeremy Hill retired 2 weeks ago after a very successful career and has decided to share his experiences supporting rookie racers. Jeremy announced at the awards ceremony that “Jon’s improvement, lines and attitude to racing” won him the newly created Jeremy Hill Rookie Award.

Jon spent some time with Jeremy discussing not just racing lines but also mental thoughts and nutritional considerations to making a successful racer. The £100 prize money was put towards a new set of race tyres.

Hopes were high for the second race, however a race-long battle with a rival for fourth place ended with an unfortunate collision at the hairpin and put him out of the trophy contest ,he managed to keep the bike upright and finished a respectable 8th place.

Races 3 and 4 on Sunday proved very challenging and Jon was struggling to get the incident out of his mind. Jon rode a cautious couple of races, slowly slipped down the grid to finish 10th at race 3. A big slide at paddock hill bend on race 4 resulted in a disappointing 19th place.

A confident Jon is hoping to reclaim his position at the top of the rookie table at the next round, at Mallory Park in Leicestershire at the end of the month. It will be an uphill challenge and Jon hopes his quick starts will enable him to get clear from his 19th place grid position. He said “I hope to regain my Championship position after a slip on race 4, If I can get to grips with Mallory quick enough then I might need to get a bigger trophy cabinet ! ”

“Mallory is going to be a steep learning curve, and it’s a circuit I have never experienced, I’m looking forward to it”

“I was very surprised to have been spotted by Jeremy Hill and feel honored to get his attention. I was impressed with him as a person and I think many rookies will gain from his knowledge. I was very interested in the additional information like nutrition etc that his wife shared with me”
