Look at this:
https://www.merkurencyclopedia.com/Exterior/how_to_paint.html
https://www.psychopanic.com/spraypaintcar.php
https://users.wirefire.com/emtee/My%20MG/Painting%20article.htm

https://www.partsource.ca/doityourself/JOM_July2005.asp

Use plastics primer, otherwise everything is alike..
Now that should fold in any case Smile

All the time spent preparing for respray is never lost so make sure you make a really good job of the prep cos it will look crap afterwards even if the spray job is ok. Also it might sound obvious but spray on a clean, dust free surface (like the garage floor) cos when spraying a mates VFR400, the pressure from the can kicked up dust which found its way onto the fairing giving a nice 3D paint effect Thumbs Down

If you can afford it its well worth renting a presurised HVLP style spray gun cos it is much easier and looks better than halfords style cans

Best of luck

If the floor is concrete it's not going to be dust free.... For small parts just covered a bench with masking paper.

You can't hang a 50lb car door from a coat hanger....let alone 2 of them, a bonnet, deck lid, 2 wings, 2 bumpers at the same time.. & move them about on wheels while they are hanging....

& why is that thing a rip off? It's not exactly expensive & would pay for itself the first time you used it. Rolling Eyes

Looks like something a serial killer would keep in his cellar to hang your dismembered body parts off of.

The minimum I get for a "complete" is $10K, Labor is $45hr at the cheapest (which is nice when you're paying some Mexican $5-$7/hr to do it) & materials are $28/hr So yes, it IS cheap.
$500 is about 250quid, thats NOT alot of money FFS Rolling Eyes

I try to hang things up rather than put them on the ground as you can turn them round without too much bother. Or put them onto some wood blocks so you can still get to the underside.
My spray job would have been different to yours as I took it right down to the bare metal - through about 8 layers of paint. A good sandpapering is important, and leaving enough time between layers. Good luck

Whenever you paint near the floor pour a bucket of water (it'll hold any dust on the floor) down and sweep first, unless of course your doing it on the sly in the spare room or the misses will be up to see why the ceilings leaking. Laughing

Not to get off track here, but maybe you should rethink your career path. It's basically one days pay.

Im not going to discuss this further. My career choice is nothing to do with you and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer incidentally is extremely well paid thank you. Rolling Eyes

Who the fuck earns £250 a day? That equates to roughly £60K a year, not exactly chump change.
