If she makes you that unhappy, I would seriously consider upgrading!

I imagine there's a lot to the story that you're leaving out, and that there are many other reasons that you want to be with her that outweigh the anguish of not having your bikes?

WTF Shocked

You having us on? And you've accepted that? What makes some folk think they can dictate what their other halves do, yeah, relationships are about compromises, but compromises only work when two parties take part - your missus sounds like a very unfair control freak to me. Evil or Very Mad

Before you go out in public again I'd make sure you wipe that HUGE big thumb print off your head mate. Rolling Eyes

Damnit, i cant find that picture of the naked dude being dragged alogn by his cock by the naked woman.

But seriously, tell her to go fuck herself.

Thumbs Up

If she loved you she wouldnt ask you to give up the one hobby you give a fuck about, just cos SHE wants the money for something you really dont care about (ie 3 piece suit, new carpet, makeup, crap holiday).

Relationships are 50/50. No doubt shes tried to say if you love her youd stop making her worry about your well being. Just in case you fall off.

Tell her if you arent allowed bikes, shes not allowed out of your sight at any moment in the day. JUST IN CASE!

Seriously, if you are taking this you might aswell cut your nuts off now. Especially if you dont have kids yet, and even then thats moody.

I'm lucky in that my missus loves bikes as much as i do.

I wouldn't consider a relationship with a girl who wasn't now

That's the thing about women, they expect their man to change to how they want just because they are together.

Mind you, men don't want their woman to change but unfortunatly they do (gravity is such a bitch on a once firm pair of breasts Very Happy).

Life with someone is about making compromises. However, there is a line which should not be crossed. Sound like she's just rode roughshod through that. That's not nice, not fair and not what relationships are about.

Did you know you can get divorced (go via the internet for the paperwork) for about £100 (or less)?

Is she not concerned now you have a littlun'?

It is slightly unreasonable for her to ask you to not ride bikes, and you've not posted on this forum for months!

My brother gave up riding of his own volition because he was expecting kids...

I don't think it's unreasonable for her to ASK you (This is important, asking is different from telling) to not ride, as she probably wants her kids to have a father when they grow up.

I think (I dont know firsthand) that having kids totally changes your priorities.

Kids

another reason to go out riding?

Sunday, noisy, kids screaming, food everywhere, trashed garden, toys everywhere.

or

Sunday, kti up, get on bike, listen to screaming bike instead...

ha ha,

nahh, as said, if you have kids, its not un-reasonable for her to ask (she may be concerned the kids may not have a dad, depends if your one of these headcase riders). Demands though and she'd be walking out the door 8 o)

We recently found out that my missus is pregnant, and not once has she mentioned me getting rid of the bike. She's got her driving test in June and I actually offered to sell the bike if she passes so we can get a car, after all the baby will be more important than me having a bit of fun on my bike. She's asked me a few times whether I'm sure, and although I'd hate to have to get rid of it, needs must and all that.

As for you mate, if she's telling you you cant have a bike, then it sounds to me like she doesn't think much of you, after all relationships are about give and take.

I think it is because of what happened to my mate I was riding with on the10th of may last year (car smashed him off his bike at 65mph) we seen his 2 kids and his wife the other day and it shocked her to see the difference that his death has caused.
I guess she thinks that a family is more important than me having an hour or two a week on some country road although she did suggest I get a race bike but hintted at the extra costs, having a $10,000 bike sitting in the shed and only being able to ride it every 6 months for a day, I said forget it, theres no way I could justify that expense and blew up a bit
shit I know bikes are dangerous but so is crossing the street and theres just no convincing her otherwise

Like I said above, life is about compromises. Suggest maybe offer to change the bike from sporty to something practical (maybe think BMW GS/Triumph Bonnie/etc.). Something not as sprts/track oriented but it would be a bike and they can still be fun. There's also the cost/transport angle. If you don't already have 2 cars then another form of transport is always a good idea.

Must admit I don't respond well to an ultimatum. However, if someone explains their concerns then I'd like to think I'd listen, and that they'd do the same.

Guess I'm lucky as my missus just says be safe when I go on the bike. Ok, it's not a sports bike which may mean I ride a tad slower and maybe it's because I do want to go home to her still breathing Very Happy
