Im looking at a supermoto bike on ebay at the moment and im just wondering what the situation is in terms of "what if i buy a lemon"

Is it pretty much sold as seen or does the seller have to state the faults whether cosmetic or mechanical on the listing??

Has anyone brought off ebay before if so can you give me some tips on what to ask etc

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/yamaha-yz426-supermoto_W0QQitemZ4628577620QQcategoryZ9809QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

Thats what im thinking of bidding on

Quick replies will be greatly appreciated

Legally it has to be true to the ad description. In practice, regardless of ebay's rules, if i turned up to pick it up and it was a lemon i'd just walk away.

Basics I would ask:

Are all seals ok?
Wheel/suspension bearings/bushings ok.
Any odd noises or smoke from the engine?

All fairings, pegs, bars, forks secure?
Battery and electrics ok?
Engine runs smoothly?

If it's not as the seller states in the auction, walk away. The law protects you, too. If it's not in MOTable condition, unless otherwise stated by the seller, you can try legal action.
