Just back from the hospital in a cast and on crutches, broke a bone in my foot Thumbs Down

Tried sitting on the bike and there's no chance I can ride it with this frigging cast (left foot, no gears), worst bit is they said it would be on for up to 6 weeks Sad

Although I've won a couple of weeks off work. Thumbs Up Very Happy

Story: Doing wheelies, one went too high, landed it badly and crushed and bent my foot under my peg.

bah , go to a junk yard , get thee a length of steel , or get some cable
and jerry rig up a hand shifter if you can't spare a hand , then wire it to your jaw,

if you wanna be a bit more technical , get a couple solenoids , push ones and wire them to the battery ,put one below the gear shift one above , and you have a push button gear changer like they have on arcade games.

Bike is fine, managed to hold it up with my foot.

Was only wearing a pair of DMs at the time, easier to move your feet than in proper boots. Dont think they would have helped much anyway.

Personally I think if you had been wearing proper bike boots instead of DMs then there would be a good chance that you wouldn't have broken your foot and you would be straight back on the bike now, however it was your choice to wear them....

just had my mate have a really bad accident, came off his bike and it landed on top of his ankle. created a compound fracture and if he hadnt of had proper bike boots on he would have sure lost his foot.

They said the leather created a natural splint for his ankle. his foot was hanging off Sick

I know i'll never go out without my bike boots on now
