I have a strange problem, I think its probably carb related and I've gone through it on the XJR owners site but thought I'd run it past you guys just incase anyone has had something similar and cracked it.

On a local private airstrip Shifty if I ride below a ton everything is hunky dory, but if I ride at a ton plus for more than a minute or two it starts to hold back, stutter, lose power almost like I'm running out of fuel. if I ease off to say 60 for a few miles it will run lumpy until I crank it open again and it'll shoot up to a ton plus again for a while until it starts over again. When I first got the bike it did it everytime I got to a ton, now I can sometimes get her upto 130 before it'll start.

I'm thinking it's carb's as the bikes been stood over winter so could be a bit of crap causing a float to stick, seems to be the right side of the engine that is missing/spluttering.

I'm now on my second tankful with Redex in but it's still doing it.

Any suggestions before I rip the carbs off ?

Cheers

Mike

Spray the HT leads, coils, any wires you see, with WD40. Best to do this in the evening and let it soak in and displace the water overnight.

If that doesn't do it I'd be pulling the carbs off and seeing whats blocked, holed, or broken.

Well I think it's sorted itself now, I've been running Redex through it for just over a week, had a good blatt this morning after filling up with fresh fuel. On the nice empty half term roads I kept it over a ton for a good few miles, she didn't miss a beat.

Fingers Crossed she's ready for a Bank Holiday weekend ride somewhere with plenty of twisties Thumbs Up

Cheers
