I yesterday noticed that the local council have put up some quite large bright yellow signs saying 'Beware! Bikers' up in the local area, I'm quite surprised by that, personally I thought they never cared.

Or are they just warning car driverws that bikers are about again so you better becareful or they might eat your children?

I've seen them on the A38.... personally having used that road every day I think there should be signs reading "BEWARE - truckers" and "BEWARE - mirror ignoring lane changing assholes".

Essex County Council wrote:
Alarmingly this figure is increasing year by year and we think it is time to do something about this.

Essex County Council, working in partnership with Essex Police, support Bikesafe.

Formerly known as "Responsible Rider" in Essex, BikeSafe is a Police led initiative, run in a number of different police force areas nationally that seeks to engage and educate motorcyclists in a safe, professional and conflict free environment, encouraging them to seek out further training to hone their skills and abilities and create a genuine desire to learn.

Through BikeSafe we invite motorcyclists to make a written pledge to support this initiative by:

Demonstrating the highest riding skills

Judgement of appropriate speed for the conditions
Awareness of, and consideration for, other road users
Wearing the best protective gear they can afford
Making themselves visible to other road users
Respecting local communities
Avoiding riding that will cause anxiety or nuisance to residents
Respecting local speed limits
Staying within the law
Making sure their bike meets current legislation.

Somehow, the CDRO or vid offered is'nt going to be MOTOGP, WSB or event Ghostrider Thinking

The radio advert says something along the lines of '....before you do something stupid, think of your family, children, friends....ride safe' Confused

It is aimed at both car and bike riders. They are trying to emphasise safety for bikes through better understanding and observations of bikers on the road for car drivers.

Something like that anyway Confused

Bikesafe is very nice and yes I think a lot of accidents could be avoided if the biker was on the ball but FFS why should the biker have to be on the ball trying to avoid the mistakes of others and their shite driving skills?

I just feel that campaign is looking in all the wrong places to fix the problems.... if only the driving test had as must emphasis on being aware of bikers as the bike test did about being aware of pedle bikes and mopeds.

One of my pals from work who comes from poland reckons %75 of the drivers in the UK would not have passed there driving test system.

He said its alot harder, like you have to drive along a wiggly line and if your a couple of centermeters out of it BANG, u fail. As well as other stuff.

They make the tests to easy, if you cant drive a car %100 properly, then why the fuck are they allowed on the road endangering childrens lives?

They should also make it harder as itll cut the number of cars down, since there so worried about global warming but dont have the balls to limit cars then this is the next logical step?

AND I think everyone should have to take a re test every 5 years, just a quick 1-2 hour session which costs somthing small like £20.

errr 75% of the drivers on the road wouldn't pass again here either Neutral

If they want to aim it at bikes the should put up "RIDE LIKE A NOB AND YOU'LL DIE" on posters..

I nearly got took out an hour ago by one of the 4x4 wankers, i was there in my lane, he's in the other lane, so im there pootling about and what does he do with out looking or even indicating starts to drift into my lane,, he failed to notice he was i shit you not a penis lengh (6 inches) away from my front tire, he got an nice blast of the horn, we get to the lights and he calls me a wanker Shocked

How am i in the fucking wrong, drifting into my lane, no mirror or indication and its my fault. Fucking hell ! And ive now notice, its not just riding a small bike it happens to me on, was on mates ZXR400 today and still get people driving up my arse and the above twat end.

4x4's should be banned, there is no need for them, and for people who have 5 kids, send them on the fucking bus or get the lazy little bastards to walk to school, a 2/3 miles walk to school did me know harm.
