Cant be done, the seat has plastic wall type things on the side that fit into the seat unit when you put the seat on. I have tried sliding a screwdriver into the hole where the grabrail should be, I can sort of see the catch, but cant really see it very well and cant get at it Crying or Very sad

Is is possible to take off the panels around the seat unit and get at it that way?

Like a screw on the side or whatever it is...

Nope, unfortunately the seat unit just splits down the middle, but you need the seat off to get at the screws. I think theres no way round it, i'm just gonna drill a hole in the side of the panel so i can stick a screwdriver in there and pop the catch. I'll just have to make sure I dont leave anything worth nicking in there Rolling Eyes

This happened on a mates gixxer, luckily the seat cowl was pretty flimsy so we just undid any screws we could, and bent the plastic back, then forced in fingers to unlock it.
Needle nose pliers may be useful if you can find/make a suitable gap.
