Help with graphics cards in laptops!!!! Advice needed

Hi all,

Basically a want to buy a laptop to put 3D CAD software onto, it doesn't have to be the best laptop just one that will cope with running the software at a reasonable rate.

I found this laptop at pc world ADVENT 7102 its 499.99

specs:


AMD Sempron 3000+ Processor

1600MHz System Bus

128KB cache

1 GB RAM

40 GB Hard Drive

DVD ReWriter Drive

15.4" Widescreen Display

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

128MB ATi X200 integrated graphics

includes 1 year warranty

Would this run Catia V5 (which is a 3D CAD software)?

The only thing i'm really worried about is the graphics card, is it good enough?

My old man's got an X300 in his PC and it's total wank. Would of thought the X200 is probably a stripped down laptop version, and I'd be very surprised if it would be any good.

You've pretty much answered your own question there.

You get what you pay for. You'll need to be spending upwards of 700 to get one with a good graphics card for cad, although saying that, that advent may be up to the job.
