Ive had my ipod for nearly 2 years now and have always used it on my apple mac laptop. But because of the laptops fairly small memory, i have always scanned the music into itunes, transferred it to the ipod then deleted the songs off the laptop.
Itunes was set to manual update so i had to transfer the songs manually to stop it deleting the songs off the ipod when i plugged it in, because i always delete them off the laptop.

I now hardly ever use the apple because ive got a new windows laptop. Is there a way i can use the ipod on my windows pc without it deleting the songs off the ipod??

Cheers
Tom

I dint understand the problem? Sure the iTunes is a pain in the arse to trasnfer songs as I seem to get loads of duplicate ones, easily selected and deleted Thumbs Up but it seems far simplier than the wifes Sony Walkman Eh?

the only problem you might encounter is if the ipod is a mac format 1st gen...then i dont think you can use it on a PC without losing your music as it will need to be flashed for use on a PC which wipes the drive.

if its a later model then it should work on both PC & MAC so just hook it up to to itunes.

Surely the worse problem here is that it's going to delete all the songs because it's on a different PC? Part of Apple's copyright thingie is that the iPod can't have songs from more than 1 computer on it.

If this is the problem, there's a great little program called SharePod. I use it to share files with my friends. You just download it, copy it to the iPod itself, and run it from there on the new PC. Absolutely brilliant. Smile
