Hello all..

[commenceing moanage]

For the past couple of months ive been looking for a job, theres plenty of shit mindnumbing jobs out there that i'd kill myself or collegues after a week doing, anything mildly interesting i'm either overqualified for or underqualified for.. i'm pretty sick of no money but once i'm doing shit monkey work i'm trapped ime.

I did two years of a degree, obscure architecture course, not recognised by anyone for anything and to be quite honset found it as exciteing a prospect as timmy mallets sweaty pants as a full time job (great money but massive brain explodeing stress, suit wearing and other madness), but it was a good idea at the time.

What i actually wanted to do was bilology/medicine related hnd but got pissed about at the time, so ended up doing the formentioned degree via an art foundation course (yes really) i know they are bloody hard work but appart from a nurseing job (no thanks) i can't see anything else is doable...

So i'm going to start over lest i be stuck in this rut for the rest of my dull poor existance...

Thinking i might be able to make money for uni via an ebay shop of some kind floging bike bits, i might have stood a chance with my previuos job appart from working all weekend makeing it very akward to do various mini assignments ("you can do this over the weekend" a favourite saying of tutors, can't comprehend weekend jobs)

Phoned a careres adviser as i'm not sure what is available to me and what i could do Confused

Anyone else in a similar position or have been? is 24 vergeing on too late to be getting a medical qualification? (i never did a-levels btw! but there are access courses afaik)

Liveing at home @24 is getting depressing i've got to say..

Dont worry mate, I know exactly how you feel. I'm 25 and still with the rents with only GCSE's to my name.

I so badly want to get into London Ambulance Service, but it's proving tough.

If you're at home, I'd suggest going into nursing at a low level and stick at it, work really hard and gun for promotion.

If you've got a job already, keep with it until you are ready to move onto something you want to do. Hopping around in dull jobs is never a good thing, trust me, I've learnt the hard way.

I know a few people that have started out in bottom level nursing jobs that have stuck with it for a few years and taken on part time training courses and worked their way up to more specialised jobs. Bound to be more information somewhere on the easiest most worthwhile route to take (uni course or paid work with part time training courses).

Are their any nurses on here currently doing that who can advise on the best route to take?

TBH if it means going to college and doing a-levels i'll do it, even if i feel a bit of a dick Laughing (hey i have double B in science you know Razz )

Wouldn't mind being a radiologist, chemist, dentist, medical photography or something even more lofty.. i dunno really i'm quite (very) open, i'm hopeing i can get to speek to some people about what i can do, if i can jump into hnd level then degree if its worth it later..

I was doing ok on the degree, i can cope (and it really was a propper bastard of a degree too, put it this way allot changed to architecture because it was easyer..), just really hated it, something i'm interested it and worthwile i could do, me heart really wasn't in the last one and theres only me to blame for that Sad

Im similar to Mr Z when it comes to not being able to stick at shit jobs and now I cant even get shit jobs as they have noticed I dont stick at them.

Sounds like what you learnt on your course could be useful to someone, so you just need to market yourself correctly. Even if tht course just gets your foot in the door without you having knowledge relevant to the job. Find the employer who needs you because they wont find you.

I should do this myself really but something stops me.

I know what you mean, there just doesnt seem to be anything out there.
The paper is full of crap jobs.
I think it's not what you know, it's who you know. If you rub shoulders with the right people you can get a good job.
