No, it's not the usual 'will this make my bike go fasta' post. Razz

My bike has a slight problem with bogging down in 1st, if I don't rev it hard when pulling away. Now I'm in the process of trying to diagnose this, but if it's something which I can't do myself, I'll wait a couple of months, as I just don't have the money.

The thing is, the previous owner only ran it on the Optimax stuff, and I've gone through about 2 tanks of fuel on it using Unleaded. Now the previous owner said he never had this problem, and I have no reason not to believe him.

So I went to the garage tonight, and it had run out of Unleaded. Rolling Eyes So I filled up with the Optimax/Supreme stuff. It occurred to me; if a bike has been run on this higher octane fuel for a while, will it develop a taste for it, and not be happy running on bog standard unleaded? Could this be the cause of my bogging?

Oh and I shoved 50mls of Redex in there for good measure, too.

Hi

Nope, a bike isn't like a junky getting addicting to chemicals.

On a bike with a feedback system (eg, lambda probe, knock sensor) to the ECU then it might adjust the tuning slightly, but doubt that applies to you.

Other than that you are into the buildup of deposits, not likely to happen over a couple of tanks, or a reaction between the fuels (highly unlikely).

All the best

Keith

Mine ran like s**t on the stuff, couldn't wait to get the tank empty.

Just didn't feel right.

I don't know yet, I've only done about 10 miles since I filled up, and it's diluted by normal unleaded.

Cheers guys.
