Wierd question,

Whats a slow sports bike that I can buy, I love sports bikes, And I love the sound of 600cc+ engines but I really do not trust myself with a machine that can do the speeds most of these bikes can do.

Perhaps I should run with a restrictor in ( Ill surposed to be doing this anyway as im not old enough to ride a unrestricted one.. ) but I dont know if Im going to keep it in, I can say I will now but when I get my arse kicked by another bike i'll probably change my mind...

I basicly want a cool looking, cool sounding bike that isnt able to do ridiculous speeds, Ive got an RS 125 at the moment, the looks are there ( well, nearlly there ) but the sound is a bit pony compared to these big bikes Neutral

Hmmmm interesting concept. I here it quite a lot from non bikers, they say "if i had a bike, i wouldn't be able to trust myself"

Your RS125 is no slouch, do you ride it at 100mph everywhere?

the slowest sports bike would be a cbr125 if you can count that as a sportsbike. If you have a race can on it it will sound almost like a bigger 4 stroke.

a 250 4 stroke sportsbike like the fzr250 wont sound like your 2 stroke 125, but its acceleration will be similar as although its got more power, its a lot heavier

fuel economy is probably better though

Go for a restricted 600 sports and stop being a pussy Wink

Seriously though, if you have an ounce of self preservation instinct you will ride within your own limits like most people do. Even adrenaline junkies with litre+ bikes don't ride everywhere at 150mph.

Hi

Slowest sports bike, probably a TZR50. After that it comes down to how quick you want it to be.

All the best

I dont ride my rs 125 at 100mph everywhere, but I do enjoy getting it to go as fast as it possible can, on a rs 125 thats ok to do. But on a big bike thats where it starts getting scarey...

Like I said, I just want a bike that looks and sounds the part, but dosnt go like it. Because I can really see myself getting into some serious trouble on a fast bike.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Learning self restraint is part of being a biker these days i'm afraid and comes with experience. I think your worrying too much about it and you'll be fine if you took different outlook on riding.

Don't go for the slowest sports bike. You will regret it and end up wanting to change.
Learn to control yourself from being stupid and going over the top. Any bike can be dangerous you just need to control yourself and have repect for it Thumbs Up

On whatever, you could just alter the gearing to lose top end and put the fun lower down the speed range.

However, you replace the risk of speeding tickets with the risk of getting done for wheelies.

Or get a Buell XB9R. 130 top end but sounds gorgeous and stacks of fun at slower speeds.

Get some self control, It isnt that hard.

You dont have to ride a bike flat out (Well, unless you have a 50/125 Smile ), you may actually find that once you get a proper bike you actually respect the power more therefore dont need to go flat out everywhere

400's are good choices, handle great, great acceleration below 80-90MPH but dont have the crazy 150+MPH topend.

Oh and COLINWALL, I think you'll find a 45BHP 4t 250 will wipe the floor with a RS125.

Sportsbike looks but not going to rip your head off from your shoulders when you open the throttle.. (single cylinder too, cheap to run e.t.c.)

cbr125 is officially britains slowest sports bike.

still does 80mph which is enough to get you into trouble in the eyes of the law,

throttle works both ways dont have to do million miles an hour everywhere, you could always get a bike and have it restricted?

Derestricted 50's can.

It's not a moped if it's derestricted.

Moped is anything that's 50 cc is it not?
anything under 100cc ( i think it may be 125cc) is not allowed on motorways

Yes off really high cliffs.
Thinking about it the varadero did 75mph flat out, the CBR was level but had a chukier rider on, so I think it would have gone faster with me on rather than him.
