Ive had an rs125 a year and then i got a tt600 and a scooter

My mate who's a copper had a scooter years ago. He eventually managed to overule his wife and get an nsr125 a few months ago thinking he would get a bandit when he passes his test

now it turns out hes gonna try to get the money together for a triumph 675. Hes talking about selling his car as his mrs will still have hers.

Hes quite sensible so might not drop it, and does loads of overtime so he can probably afford it if he really wants it.

At the moment hes talking of buying the place in the queue off a guy on ebay.

if he does get one, what should he pay for the bike itself and what should he pay for a place in the queue ?

current price of place in the queue is £100 for may
ebay queue place listing

if he wins the auction, what should he ask to see before he hands the cash over to know its genuine ?

thanks elliot
i just rang jersey
she said they have them in stock and gave me a price of £6305 Smile

i txtd my mate and he is suggesting a trip down

i then rang guernsey and they said that there is a wait on them, so i rang jersey again just to check.

this time she said they have a demonstrator 'in stock' but if an order was placed it would be august b4 it arrived. She also said that it couldnt be taken to mainland uk without paying vat on entry, and the reg would have to be changed so in the end it would work out no cheaper Sad

so i then had to text him this Sad

this is exactly the sort of info i want tho to follow up to see if i can help my mate get the best deal he can if he goes for one.

I am pretty sure they cant charage you VAT when you go back to the mainland if its a "guernsey reg bike" but of course you could change the reg plates to english.

Over here in guernsey if you pay cash it should go down to about £5600-£5800 or something, i only payed £5k for my 06 reg gsxr.

If i was you i would check it out becuase i dont think they can charge you VAT.

I saw some in stock the other day unless they have gone , i will check out tomo for you.

Why are you so worried about him dropping it ? Confused

If he can afford it then why not ?

yeah i guess if he has fully comp insurance he will just have it fixed or get another one

if elliot is saying that he wouldnt have to pay vat if he brought it to the mainland, and that he could just reregister it i dont know who to believe, the dealer or elliot

so does anyone know if either the dealer or elliot is right ?
not paying vat is a saving of £1000 so its worth finding out

I think if the bike stays on the island for 6 months then you don't have to pay VAT, but would still have to get it registered over here when you brought it over. I was looking at this a few years ago so memory is a bit hazy but I think that's how it works.

So yes you'd probably have to pay VAT.

Why don't you get your mate to join the forum Colin, that way he can ask the people on here directly that have already bought one about their points of view???

Colin what are the prices in england for the 675's?

I will get some of the cash prices over here for you.

And about the VAT, so they are saying if i went to live in england and took my bike with me i would have to pay about £1500 extra since of the VAT? i dont beleive it tbh.

I will find out for you though colin and the saving on the bike will be over £1000 if cash price compared to england.

there is no reduction for paying cash as they have a waiting list and dont have a prblem getting rid of them

standard uk on the road price is £7199

jersey on the road price i was given was £6305

it could be that the official line is ppl would have to pay vat when they bring it to the uk, but i dont think customs are going to be checking the ferries for smuggled 675s

when re-registering the bike for the uk, i doubt that vat inspectors would be alerted

if it was me i might be temtped to chance it and buy with no vat from jersey. if somehow someone manages to demand the vat later, you just pay up, but if they dont you have saved at least £1000 maybe more even after costs

its possible triumph might try to block jersey selling to uk mainland buyers to avoid undercutting their mainland dealers

The dealer over here has it on every bike, 2006 gsxr 600 is about £5800.

R6 is abit cheaper i think.

I am pretty sure guernsey will be cheaper to buy them from and its closer then jersey so it saves money.
