Cheapest CG125 you can find that will still run Thumbs Up . I assume you're not going to be keeping it afterwards from the way you say it, so theres no point getting anything particularly decent!

i may have it lieing around rather than selling it after passing full test if i cant sell it for at least what i bought it for Razz would have to be in fairly good condition considering as my nearest test centre is 30 miles away meaning a little commute to get there.

I agree, get a CG mate. If you get a good deal its pretty unlikely that you will lose owt on it when it comes to selling. 125's will always sell well until the law changes.

Consumables are ridiculously cheap and if you need more expensive parts there are a million of them out there at the breakers yards.

Shouldnt feel embarrassed, anyway who can tell who you are?? Used to feel a little embarrassed riding to college on my bike, but doesnt bother me anymore. I did my 3 day training on a cg, thought it was a great little bike.
The only thing that anoyes me is the really thin wheels.

No, that picture was a pisstake I did when I was bored.

Not embarrassed at all, it's a legend of a bike, and most people I talk to remember having one or a CB125 and saying it was some of the most fun they've ever had.

Mine does 60 indicated, but I think something is wrong with it.

The older shape ones have larger carbs (The brazil models I think) so therefore can do a true 70MPH IIRC.

The new shape ones will do about 65MPH max.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure I'm right about old ones being faster.

If you get one past 2002 you'll get an electric start and a larger fuel tank too.

Just under 70mph on a still day. It's lacks power in its last gear (5th), though, so if it gets really windy or you're going up a hill that can drop to about 55mph. Both are indicated speeds, mind.

Nope. It is and does exactly what it looks like, so there's nothing to be embarrassed about Smile.

I'm planning on getting learner bike when I get back to the UK next week, I did my CBT on a yamaha RT I think it was, but everyone seems to say CG125 is a better bike. Can anyone tell me what you should look out for when buying a second hand bike?

Cheers,

Billie

I had a Honda City Fly which I think is a very good first bike. Its goes about the same speed as a CG if not a little faster.
Bargains are out there to be made because I sold mine for £700 and that was a 1999 reg with only 9k miles (less I think) on the clock.
The good thing about these honda 125's is that they are so reliable. I had mine for 1 year and I had no troubles what so ever.

Also servicing was the most easiest vehicle i've worked on. You could change the oil, new spark plug and new air filter and do that within 20 minutes.
I expect the CG to be the same.

They hold there value as well Thumbs Up because everyone knows how reliable they are
