second starter motor on the rs has buggered again, and they are over 200quid from aprilia and around 70 off some fella on ebay(1st choice of course :p after reparing it myself ). i was wondering if anyone knew were to get some replacement brushes as i've stripped the motor down and cleaned it up, obviously if it doesn't work i'll spend more money and get another starter motor. just i wanted to do this as i've 2 broken and wouldn't mind repairing them as its not overly expensive. (and i'm currently about to get myself into a lot of debt/mortgage, and tryin to save as much as i can )

A washing machine service shop will be able to sell you some carbon brushes for next to nothing, then get busy with a file to make them the right size.

failing that, why not contact a starter/alternator rebuild place?

I got a couple locally that carry a fair stock, and Im certain they would sell parts to you as well

carefull with replacement brushes , they are made with a composite material carbon-copper function of the amps which they carry . more amps more copper , less more carbon . look the colour of the brushes and try to put the same colour . watch also if the springs are in good condition , they may cause a lack of contact .
look my doc

i rewind electric motors for a living, if youre having problems send me a sample first class and identify em and send u a new set.
last set i got was 20 quid for 4 sets (had to buy 4 because of minimum order) youll get new carbons with springs attached ready to screw in.
