As some of you may know, I'm planning to do the London to Brighton push bike ride. The idea is to do it on a push bike resembling my race SV, including wheels and fairing!

So far, I have managed to get the front end on and get it rideable to some degree...
https://www.bcfracing.com/stupidbike/dump/stupidbikeprototype1_sma.jpg
The frame I've got's too small really and there's a load of other stuff I have to do, but at least I know it's possible.

Riding it for a mile or two tonight (includling a bloody steep hill!) I definitely got stares from loads of people as well as some kids that thought I was the coolest thing ever! Smile

I need a name for this projet, something that I can also use for the website, which will be a subdomain of bcfracing.com. So myproject.bcfracing.com.

The idea is to try and get accross some idea of the project in as short a space as possible, maybe including the idea of being for charity, etc.

A couple of thoughts so far:
engineless.bcfracing.com
pedalpowersv.bcfracing.com

Also, still got loads to do, if anyone that knows of anywhere I can get the following cheap or knows someone that can help out with services, I need:
Large full suspension Mountain bike frame, doesn't have to be good quality.
SV forks/yolks/front spindle, can be damaged
Various metal work/CNCing
Loads of other 'stuff'!

Given the colour scheme that it will need, how about Agent Orange.

All the best

It'd be a heavy beast to pedal for so long.

You can work it out, it is physics.

Some good ideas for names, keep 'em coming Smile.

As for lycra, no ta and none of that without lycra either Rolling Eyes - well, actually I may get some lycra shorts, but only for being worn underneath ones that have some deceny Smile.

Yes, I know it's going to be a bitch to do over 50 miles on; but then that's the idea; I reckon I could easily do it on a normal bike without getting much fitter. No challenge in that Smile.

As the bike is at the moment, with some decent training etc, I reckon I could easily enough do London to Brighton. At the moment, I've got say 20kg extra. Yet a bloke I know doing it easily weighs 20kg more (in fat Smile) than me. Therefore, I should be able to do it no problems if I can get as fit as him.

In a similar manner, an extra 20kg for the back end - you do see some quite chubby people doing it.

The plan is to add weights as I go and see how rideable it is.
Then put add on the actual mod if it's ok
At the moment, this frame's a bit too short for comfortable riding thanks to the positioning of the bars (doing my back in a bit).

I shouldn't need to work /that/ much harder, just use a lower gear and go slower, so I'm out for longer! The problems may come when I come to a hill where people are going really slowly; if I have to get off and push, while I could pedal fast and go slow in low gear, I may not be able to push that much up a steep hill.

It'll be intersting, whatever Smile.

The weight of the wheels, forks etc... have you ever tried to pick up even a 50 CC bike! I doubt you can do it. you did not learn science!

He'll be riding it not carrying it. Rolling Eyes

And I've succesfully pushed a bike that weigh's 100kg over 5 mile's up some steep hill's kitted up in summer, and I only weigh 8 stone.

Yes I can even lift it up enough to spin it around on one wheel as well.

Would be interested to know your experience/knowledge on cycling as well.

Oh and for the record I can (just, last itme I tried it Smile ) pick up an SR125 on my own Smile.

To be fair, if Anders knew my level of fitness, his predictions may well be right. [edit, oops]

As I said, the idea is to build up the level of weight/difficulty and not go past what I can manage. From cycling before, I've found that once I can do, say, 10 miles or so at a decent pace and not be too knackered, I can go on for ever (within reason) at a moderate pace.
