I watched Australian Motorcross last night. It was on one of those obscure sports channels on sky. Anyone else see this?
It was very entertaining indeed. One rider 'Timmy weigarn(or similar spelling) actually crossed the finishing line to win on his arse with his bike following close behind!!

It's the first time I've seen motocross racing since actually riding a bike and it occured to me how just how much skill and stamina must be involved. It looks knackering.
One question that sprung to mind is - how do they stick thier legs out and use the back brake on right hand corners?

You dont.

At least i never did.

Brake before the bend and you accelerate through it mate Thumbs Up

Man i loved my moto-x days, only did it for about a year but i loved every minute of it.

Mainly around my local track, but i did go to wildTracks where they have a Pro style track, that was awsome! Terrifying but awsome. The stamina you need for that is insane, you get knackered so quickly if your not fit. Also it realy builds up your stamina and fitness which is a bonus Wink

Quite expensive though, as the engines run on timers - eg how much track time you have had. I had a little clock that started every time the engine was started. Every 2-3 hours it needed air filter and that sorting, think it was every 5-7 Hours it needed a rebuild? Been a while Wink

Not that good to watch though i found. Great if you wanna see jumps and crashes, but for the actual race - a lot harder to follow as everyone gets mixed up etc...

I used to do it loads on the track by junction 2 or 3 off the m3. Used to love it as well. Was a really complicated track, mainly consisted of hairpin bends but the wood section was cool.

Going to get another scrambler as i miss my yz. Crying or Very sad

Funniest thing i ever did on my scrambler was when i hit a bump quite hard without expecting it in a low gear. It forced me back and in turn i wacked open the throttle without expecting it/holding on properly and i flew off the back while my bike accelerated forwards and hit a tree. Laughing

Got any details of the track on the M4 mark?

Someone at my work mentioned one around there, but haven't found where it is yet.

It's the M3 just before the M3/M25 interchange. It used to be a wicked track, quite long and very complex but a kid died a few years ago and alot of people complained about the noise and smell (even though it's in the middle of the M3 and a fucking sewage works. Laughing

I will have a look around the net for the actual details of the track but from what i remember its either £10 or £15 for 3 30 minute sessions. It goes kids adults kids adults etc from 1-4. It used to be really cheap but insurance went up because of that kid and its only open saturdays now from 1-4 because of the complaints.

I can't find anything about it on the web, probably not looking hard enough anyway look here on the map.

Map

Its on that yellow road that goes over the M3 where it branches off onto the m25. Its next to a household waste site. Thumbs Up [/url]

Yup, if your on a decent track then you are never in the same position on the bike for longer than about 5-10 seconds.

Imagine what it used to do to me when i was 13 about 5'4 on a bike i couldn't touch the floor on with both feet. Laughing

This is what the track looks like that i used to ride. Part of it went into the woods, you would go up a fuck off hill which some guy stalled while i was behind. I stopped half way up the hill and started rolling back, so did he. Laughing We both basically span and his bike got hit by someone else.

It's always hard work because in the dry the dust is unreal, it makes your mouth so dry and in the wet its so boggy the bike is constantly sliding (maybe thats why i can 4 wheel drift my car) Laughing

That track G they would reverse ever week so it's something a bit different.
