Basically, i have quite a nice leather jacket which i take pretty good care off (could do with some nutritioner or whatever it is) and wear pretty much everywhere.

Anyway went round a mates abit caned last night, chucked my coat on the work top and settled down for some midnight pie scoffing.

Anyway my i happen to spot the hob is on on the cooker... which part of my coat is on Shocked Crying or Very sad

Run over and snatch it off, luckily it had only been on there at most 5 minutes.

Theres no burn marks, scorch marks or obviously fucked bits. But it feels really dehydrated and isnt hanging loosely, its gone abit parchmenty. And the zip is now kinked. It does up but no smoothly.

Anyone got any ideas what i can do. I can cope with the borked zip but i want the jacket to go back to its limp hanging state.

To clarify, its like someone starched or summit the right hand side of a shirt.

You could try saddle soap I suppose.

I've asked about a bit and I don't actually know anyone who has crisped a leather jacket. Sorry.

Nicely put.

See THIS is why people mock students.

Thanks anyway, will try saddle soap. Is that relatively easy to get hold of/cheap?

I've found you a "free" sample! Thumbs Up https://www.awrust.co.uk/fuseaction-browse.showitem/colour_id-126/14c9cb65.html

Google it, there's loads about. If there's a stables or riding school near you they will be able to tell you where to get it locally, or might even give you some to try. (And you get to talk to girls with really powerful legs! Wink )

Maybe try some liquid nikwax?

You can leave it to soak in and if you treat all of your jacket it will make it waterproof \o/

Babyyam - as always is right Wink Baby lotion was suggested, which wouldn't do much good for the jacket - where as baby oil will. Very Happy

Years ago used to use stuff called Dubbin, it could soften rugby boots that had got waterlogged then dried in airing cupboard, i.e. solid! ... it took ages to work in enough though, hopefully jacket isnt so thick!, used to be a quid a tin, tin would last a season

Yup, that's still around. I use on it my army surplus boots (which I also ride in). It's still cheap too, especially off the market.

She was the one who told me never to get one actually. Razz

She used to have a designer clothes company with her friend that sold in shops in windsor and knows more about fashion than anyone i know. She made and designed wedding dresses, mens clothes and childrens clothes. The wedding dresses did well, the design was callled lisa maria and her childrens clothes are still selling in shops in windsor called little missfits.

Although saying that her friend that does most of the designing wears some weird "fashion" shit.

I think it depends on the jacket, and whether you have the build to pull it off.

Apart from the mug shouting 'do the fonze impression' i get nothing but compliments.

Altho like i say, its now crisped Crying or Very sad

Try the shops that sell leather couches (they normally sell products for caring for leather) or a leather shoe shop might have some products?

I sounds like it might be too far gone though if the zip has gone all kinked?

Was it very expensive? Sometimes the leather care products are just as expensive as the jacket!

Cheers! Razz
