This is the new concept bike presented at the tokyo motor show

https://world.honda.com/news/2005/2051019_1.html

From what info I can gather...they claim it as a sports bike equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission and a water-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC, V-type, 2-cylinder, 680cc engine. A newly adopted hydraulic mechanical continuously variable HFT (Human Fitting Transmission) system features two types of full automatic modes as well as a 6-speed manual mode which the rider operates through buttons located on the handle

I don't think it is a sports bike either. I think it looks more like a tourer...a sports tourer at the very most.

Personally, I think they have built it out of spares from unsold goldwings and is kinda unsigtly. But, other people I have showed this bike to either say it is cool, is butt ugly or warm to it eventually and have mixed opinions.

I suppose this bike is alot like Martmite!

Opinions?

Holding real judgment till I have given one a test ride.

it is not a sports bike but as a commuter / touring bike it may well be the dog dangles’ and a contender to be the Pans replacement.

So I will say cool if only for the fact it’s the first “new” idea I have seen in the orld of biking this year.

Feef i would of said it's the bastard love child of an 05 CBR Blade and a Goldwing. I reckon it was designed by a harley rider who wanted a sportier bike..

equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission and a water-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC, V-type, 2-cylinder, 680cc engine. Honda will continue the development of DN-01 with the goal of introducing it to the market in the near future.

DN-01 is being developed in the concept of a comfortable sports cruiser, with the goal of creating new value for the customer by proposing a new level of riding pleasure. The newly adopted hydraulic mechanical continuously variable HFT (Human Fitting Transmission) system features two types of full automatic modes as well as a 6-speed manual mode which the rider operates through buttons located on the handle. Moreover, this is the first hydraulic mechanical continuously variable transmission system in the world to be equipped with a lock-up mechanism, which improves the fuel efficiency while offering a smooth ride without feeling the shock normally associated with gear shifts, even when cornering. With the HFT, the DN-01 achieves more easy-to-operate and comfortable riding than currently available sports model motorcycles.

To me it more and more seems like Marminte, either you love it or you hate.

But, according to the poll, more people compare it to a foul beast from satan's groinal region than to an angelic god sent thing of beauty.
