Ill try and explain this as fully and easily as i can.. Sad

I just recently changed the throttle cable as it was snapped,

the bike was ok to start with now its..

When i start it in the morning i get alot of blue smoke.
It cuts out if i dont rev it a bit higher manually.
when in 1st gear its just sticks here and there then revs way up.
Now it wont fire atall
Checked the plug, its all oil.

cant think of anything else ive noticed with it.

I get the impression that maybe it just needs tweaked to get the balance of oil and petrol mix quite right.
I dont know how to do this.
Ive got the Workshop manual for the bike also.

Any help would be great, as im just getting used to my clutch.

I thought that was normal for a 2 stroke? Probably more so in the morning, if you're using full choke?

Could need the idle speed adjusting. It'll be a small screw somewhere, which needs to be tightened/loosened.

It could be the air/fuel mix ratio. I had BIG problems with the DT, it would take about 30 minutes' worth of kick starting / waiting until it finally started. I tried everything. Took it to a garage, and turned out that the adjustment screw had moved, also becoming partially seized. It took them less than 2 minutes to solve Mad

Isn't there a section in your manual which tells you how to adjust the oil pump?

But before you do that - you do know that the pump will be linked to the throttle, yes? So you didn't fit your new cable right, that may well be the root of the problem.

finpos.

I'm with finpos. Is it a split cable, with one bit going to the oil pump and one bit going to the carb?
Would the split ends be different lengths by any chance? If they are you got them mixed up, that could cause trouble.

the cables are the correct way, the cable is set up like that.

However, i did observe that the fuel pump cable is attached to a semi-circle looking thing and it wasnt touching a metal stopper where it should have on the diagrams in the manual. I adjusted it so it looked like that on the picture.

Its still not starting the plug is still oily so im going to try and fire it up in the morning, i hope it starts, i cant actually be bothered pissing about with it for days on end. Confused

I presume you have checked the battery and all the electrical connections? A dead or low charged battery can stop it starting, and a loose connection in the ignition circuit will give you all manner of misfiring and starting problems.

Don't work on the HT circuit while it is running though. I got a rather nasty jolt from the ignition while working on a VW Polo the other week while working out which spark plugs were firing or not, even through insulated pliers. Thankfully I wasn't touching anything with more than one hand at once so it jumped across my hand rather than across my chest.

Well I managed to get it running.

My fault really Embarassed , i think i over adjusted the oil pump and it wasnt in a fully closed position when the bike was off so i now have adjusted it to its correct position.

I couldnt get the damn thing started though, My brothers friend managed within 5 seconds Embarassed

All he done was dipped the spark plug in the fuel tank and put it back in, fired in the first try.

The bike is now running really smooth, no lumpiness or nothing. Thumbs Up
