Hi all. Do any of you know of any programs that off a speech-to-text service or voice recognition? I've had a quick search but not having much luck. I'd like something that I can dictate to it what I want it to write in Word, an address bar, MSN conversation etc.

Thanks in advance.

If you have Windows XP you should be able to install one through help and support (type in "speech recognition", go to speech recognition requirements, then related topics and click on install speech recognition, the instructions from there on are pretty straightforward) if you haven't got XP or don't want to use the one installed there's a list here:

https://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?tg=dl-20&qt=speech%20recognition&tag=srch

Unfortunately most are only free trials, but you might get lucky with a few open source ones.

And, if you want to pay, there's a few on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/203-8958150-8649555

You'll probably be able to pick them up on eBay cheaper.

Hope that's helped a bit anyway. Thumbs Up

Edit: Thanks to Luxy, I should've read it!

You're absolutely right with that, erm, sorry, didn't read it properly. Embarassed

After reading it all through it says that you can install a speech recognition program, but I'm not sure how good it is.

They're all rubbish, trust me!

I installed one, used it for a couple of days as a novelty, but it's so hard to get on with you uninstall it almost immediately.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I'll have to search harder if I want a decent one.

Try this, used it before for fun;
https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5E86EC97-40A7-453F-B0EE-6583171B4530&displaylang=en#QuickInfoContainer

The problem is the learning curve/background noise etc

Hope it helps
