What do the ends of the plugs look like? Covered in soot, oil, etc? Or are they clean?

It sounds like your getting carbon deposits on your plugs, this is usually caused by a carburettor that is running too rich. Is there any black smoke coming from your exhaust when you start up?

The things that normally cause this are:
-Dirty air filter
-Air mixture screw or carburettor needs adjusting
-Choke is sticking
-Carburettor float height is out of adjustment, or float is sticking open

Hi hazza,

don't get disheartened, just think of all the money you're saving not having a rapidly depreciating shiney new bike Smile

Firstly, What grade of plug are you using in it (what are the numbers/letters the number on the plug?)

Secondly, if it's just had an engine swap yesterday, how do you know it's still eating plugs?

Finally, just be systematic about your lights, the wiring is so simple on those things you cant go wrong (time to learn how to use a multimeter if you don't know already)

finpos.

Have you over filled your oil?

(That's why my SV went through a set of plugs in about 1000 miles)

I reckon it's because you're trying to learn something.
