I am sure pistons are made ovel and the barrol board out to the ex/in( front to back)diamator of the piston.
The pin in the piston gets. The heat from the Conrod so the piston expands there more.

I could post loads more but net is acting up.

I have said on this forum before that I ran my CD 175
on just an every ready battery ment for a torch and got away with it no bother.
I disconnected the charging to the battery.

If you set the timing wrong on an old two stroke bike the engine could run backwards.
You could take off going back instead of forward.
Also if you just leave the engine running that way for a short while the oil pump will pump the wrong way and well wreck the engine.

In principle, you don't need a battery on a bike once it's started, the charging system provides more than enough to power the ignition.

If you, however, disconnect the charging system, you don't really need a big electrical supply to provide a spark to the engine. A small torch battery could suffice.

Especially on a CD175 Benley, which has magneto ignition, that doesn't need a battery anyway, and AC direct lighting off the mag, which also doesn't need a battery, and all the battery does supply power to is the 5w tail lamp, horn and indicators!
