Predicament on my hands

Failed my test (a2) on the 3rd, re-booked for the 26th at 8.40 am.

I dont no whether to get a 125 now and use it after i past my test, or wait and save more money to get a 500 for after instead

Ironically, you may well find a 500cc bike can be had for about the same price as a 125 in similar condition.

You'll get a perfectly functional 500 for a good bit under a grand.

if you pick up a 125 you have to insure it, buy a chaepy if you must and get some experience in.

I found just sitting on a chair in the front room going over scenarios and taking to myself, writing stuff down managed to get everything drummed in 100%...

I failed my test (A) yesterday as well... must've been the day for it

Bear in mind the time it'll take you to find a bike, inspect and buy it, insure it and all the rest. Unless you really work on it, you'll have passed your test by the time you've finally got it all sorted. Then, of course, you'd have to jump through all the hoops for selling it if you do want to go for a bigger bike. You're next test is just about 3 weeks away - unless you feel you really need the practice to pass, just wait for now .

I phoned up to book my practical yesterday and she said what catagory are you in, so I looked on the back of my provisional and it said "A" so I told her that. This morning I got a letter from the driving thingy saying about my A2, what's an A2? And will I be able to ride my 400 on it?

CATEGORY A2 - Standard Motorcycle Licence

The practical test for this category must be taken on a motorcycle of between 121cc and 125cc that is capable of achieving not less than 100kph. On passing the test the full licence allows the rider to ride any Motorcycle without L-Plates up to a maximum power output of no greater than 25kW (33bhp), for a period of two years. After the two year period the Licence is automatically uprated to allow you to ride any two wheeler ever built.

If the test is taken on an automatic or semi-automatic machine then the licence will be endorsed with a restriction limiting the rider to drive only automatic and semi-automatic machines up to the power limits as above.

Training and testing for Category A1 and Category A2 (restricted) are the only options for learner riders under 21 years of age. The effect of this legislation therefore means that for young riders, no one under the age of nineteen will be able to ride a motorcycle more powerful than the 33 bhp limit.

you CANT use your 400 for the test, but once you passed it you can.

Anyways cheers for the thoughts, i decided i might try get my mate who works in a bike shop to lend me one for 3 weeks til my test, then get a big bike.

Nah it's just the test that I didn't know about.

I have a feeling the guy will say something about my bike and wont let me do my test.
