Hi,
I have a zx6r 04' model which is suffering from major fuel injection problems. It doesn't happen on every ride, but once it starts it happens throughout the whole time out riding.
Basically the bike is slightly down on power throughout the rev-range but once they hit around 10k the bike judders and won't accelerate anymore, a similar feeling to a rev limiter cutting in.
The bike has a Scorpion end-can fitted, but has run fine for a couple of months before this started happening. There is also a Datatool S3 alarm fitted which has been suggested is the cause of the problem as its wired into the ecu.
It's booked into the dealers next week to be fettled with but I'm concerned that because the problem is intermittant, they will struggle to find the exact souce of the problem if it runs fine whilst they test it.
I dropped the bike off once before when it first did it, but once they rode it the bike had sorted itself again. I rode it for another few rides but the problem arose again on Mondays track session. After which the Fuel injection light came on, but stayed off once the bike had been re-started.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the fault could actually be?
Cheers in advance, Cillit. |

Someone on another forum had a similar problem I believe it was due to how the alarm was mounted which caused it to suffer from vibration therefore mucking everything up issue was solved I think with a bit of padding between the alarm and frame. ____________________ gixxer thou K6 , Cbr400 gullarm x 2 , cb400 superhack. |

Cheers for the response fella's. The dealer did mention he thought it might be the alarm vibrating, looks like it might be the case.

Bit of an update, but this still isn't sorted
Dealers had the bike back and refitted the alarm, thinking the vibrations from this was messing up the ecu, as previously mentioned.
Took bike for dyno run, first produced 108 bhp, but then the 2nd run 'it' happened and the bike stuttered and wouldn't rev higher than 10k, power output reached max of 65bhp!
The bike is again at the dealer for a fettle.
Co-incidentally on most of the occasions when I remember it in particular happening was just after filling up with petrol (different garages no no dodgy fuel). I'm now thinking it could be the fuel breather pipes, does anyone know if this could be the source of the problem? I do tend to fill right to the brim.
It only happens now and again but when it does it's quite a violent cough-spit and splutter and won't rev any higher, you have to change up a gear to keep going.
Any more thoughts from anyone... Cheers, Cillit. |
