As I'm skiving off after yesterdays exploits, I thought I may as well put up an 'epic biking tale' on yesterdays events. Sorry for the blurring on the pictures - there must be a mark on the camera lens, which I didn't see. Rolling Eyes

Me and Jon met at Bridgwater services at 5.45am, and after a quick fag break and petrol fill up we were on our way. Up until this point it had been horrible, moderately heavy rain. Hence, the damage was done, and we were already relatively wet.

After about an hour, at which point I couldn't feel my fingers or toes, we pulled in for a cup of hot stuff at a Little Chef, and a chance to warm up and have a fag. Turns out, once you're cold, you don't want to get really toasty and then go back out there. I spent the next 15 minutes of the journey shivering uncontrollably as my body temp dropped again. As you can tell, it was a bit cold and wet! Not all bad though; the weather was getting progressively better as we went.

We arrived in Guildford at 8.30, met the lovely Joe at the library, after dashing to the public bogs for a slash, and obviously, a fag break. We then went to meet Joe's friend Stewart on a blue Ninja at a petrol station - was he off the forum? I don't know.

4 in number now we set off for Box Hill. Weather still not ideal, we took a moderate pace with Joe leading the way. Some nice twisty roads, I'd like to try some of those in hot weather. As we drew near Box Hill I noticed Jon's tyre was looking a bit low, and made a mental note to tell him this when we arrived. But at the next junction it was noticeable lower so I honked him and told him to get in the garage opposite the roundabout. Turns out he'd picked up a nail. Sad He also said he'd been sliding all over the place for the last few minutes, so I'm glad I told him at that point, anway. This was literally 2 or 3 minutes from Box Hill itself. Sad

Joe tore up to Box Hill to inform the others, me and Stewart stayed with Jon while he phoned people to try and get it repaired under his insurance. Unfortunately, no repair centres were open that day, so he had no choice other than have it hauled home by a truck. Sorry we lost you here mate. Sad Meanwhile, Joe had arrived back with Siggi, who was immediately followed into the petrol station by a police car. Laughing They gave Siggi a bollocking for his number plate, but were generally nice enough guys. The other officer even called in on the radio to see if there were any tyre places open that day. At this point it was apparent that Siggi was a bit wet too; him wringing out his jacket while it was still on him gave the police a chuckle. Laughing The weather was taking the piss too; as soon as Jon was off his bike with the puncture, the sunshine came out and stayed there. After all those hours in the blasted cold and wet. Mad

One down, we continued up to Box Hill, where we met with the less than huge group. We waited until 10.30 for any strays, but none showed (it turns out that many were hiding from the rain, and some were a bit 'worse for wear'.) We then decided on a route to Hastings (A21? I can't remember) and went straight to it. On a motorway, we somehow lost Stewart, who was behind me, me being 2nd to last. I have no idea where he went!

We made steady progress towards Hastings, the crowds of waving people getting bigger and bigger - I have no idea why they'd want to spend hours doing that. We stopped in briefly at a cafe for a break, but didn't stay long. After setting off again, it was clear I hadn't closed my jacket pockets - my phone came out and bounced onto the road. With this much traffic, stopping wasn't an option, and later on I got the 'we have not been able to connect your call' so I think it was run over. Mad Laughing

We arrived in the massively busy Hastings, and parked up outside the Pound Stretcher.

We dived through the middle of a street parade to the McDonalds for a quick lunch, and then met up with Siggi's wife and sprogs. We went down to the seafront, which was absolutely crammed with bikes. We walked among them for a bit, not finding much to do. To quote Siggi - 'Well, we're here, now what the fuck do we do?' Laughing

As it turns out, we found something to do for about 20 minutes - watch the crazy man do his dances.

At this point we found Dodsi, Joe Tek and Davo, and then Fazed. Rather, they found us. After much Crazy Man fun - unfortunately, we couldn't get him to flip for the camera, but he does do them - we went off to bike stalls and eventually Halfords, in search for a puncture repair kit for Wave. It was half successful - he got to Andy's with relatively little trouble. Wheelying off the junctions may have been a bad idea. Laughing

Andy's already told the story of our fun at his, so that's where I'll leave off here. Here's some photos for you though. Mr. Green

Thanks to Andy and his family for providing that afternoon and putting up with us - it really brought the day to a brilliant end. Very Happy Thumbs Up
